v8862_m - Direct parent LEI required when the row contains any other data (B_01.02)
If any other data column in a B_01.02 row is filled, the LEI of the direct parent undertaking (c0060) must be filled too.

Official expression (EBA, verbatim)
with {tB_01.02, default: null, interval: false}: if ( not ( isnull ({c0030}) ) ) or not (( isnull ({c0040}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0020}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0050}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0070}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0080}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0090}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0100}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0110}) )) then ( ( not ( isnull ({c0060}) ) )) endif
Precondition (verbatim): {v_B_01.02} - the rule is evaluated only when template B_01.02 is part of the filing (its filing indicator is true).
Description in the EBA artifact: empty (NULL).
Note on the official expression: the EBA artifact publishes this expression with the columns {c0020} and {c0050} listed in a different order in the or-chain than in the sibling rules of this family (the set of columns is identical and the or-chain is commutative, so the meaning does not change). The page documents the expression exactly as published; the check runs exactly as published.
What this rule checks
Template B_01.02 (List of entities within the scope of the register of information) has one row per entity within the scope of the Register of Information (RoI). The row key is c0010 (LEI of the entity).
The rule looks at each row: if at least one of the data columns c0020-c0050 and c0070-c0110 is filled - Name of the entity (c0020), Country (c0030), Type of entity (c0040), Hierarchy of the entity within the group (c0050), Date of last update (c0070), Date of integration (c0080), Date of deletion (c0090), Currency (c0100), Value of total assets (c0110) - then c0060 (LEI of the direct parent undertaking of the entity) must be filled as well. A row that contains only the key c0010 does not trigger the rule.
The expression requires c0060 also for entities that have no direct parent undertaking (for example, the ultimate parent itself) - this follows from the unconditional or-chain of the published expression. This rule checks only that the cell is filled; the LEI format of a filled c0060 is checked by a separate rule (v8826_m).
This is a warning-level check (layer W2, severity: warning). It does not technically block or reject a filing at the ESAs - a technical rejection can only be caused by the structural file checks (STRUCT layer). A violation shows up as a warning in the validation feedback. The rule is active on the current EBA validation rules list (status as of 2026-06-23).
Most common causes
- The entity has no direct parent undertaking (for example, it is the ultimate parent), so the cell was left empty - the published expression still requires a value in c0060.
- The row was filled in starting from the hierarchy or the name and the parent LEI cell was left empty.
- A column shift in a CSV or Excel export left c0060 empty and moved values into neighbouring columns.
How to fix it, step by step
- Open template B_01.02 and find the flagged row. The finding gives the row number and the key value: c0010 (LEI of the entity).
- Enter the LEI of the entity's direct parent undertaking in column c0060 (LEI of the direct parent undertaking of the entity).
- If the entity has no direct parent undertaking, note that the published expression requires a value in c0060 anyway - with the cell empty, this warning remains in the validation feedback.
- If the whole row is there by mistake, delete the entire row instead. A row with only the key (c0010) does not trigger this rule.
- Run the validation again and confirm the v8862_m warning for that row is gone.
Example: fails vs passes
Fails - the hierarchy is filled (eba_RP:x56 = Subsidiary), the parent LEI is empty; the finding points at column c0060 of this row:
| c0010 (LEI of the entity) | c0050 (Hierarchy of the entity within the group (where applicable)) | c0060 (LEI of the direct parent undertaking of the entity) |
|---|---|---|
| 549300Q5EH2NP82EPE32 | eba_RP:x56 | (empty) |
Passes - the parent LEI is filled:
| c0010 (LEI of the entity) | c0050 (Hierarchy of the entity within the group (where applicable)) | c0060 (LEI of the direct parent undertaking of the entity) |
|---|---|---|
| 549300Q5EH2NP82EPE32 | eba_RP:x56 | DUMMYLEI123456789012 |
Also passes (edge case) - a key-only row: only c0010 is filled, none of c0020-c0050 and c0070-c0110 has a value, so the condition never activates. With several rows, only the incomplete row is flagged - the finding carries its row number and key value.
Related rules
- v8858_m, v8859_m, v8860_m, v8861_m, v8863_m, v8864_m, v8865_m - the same row-completeness family on B_01.02: each rule requires a different column of the same row (c0020 Name of the entity, c0030 Country of the entity, c0040 Type of entity, c0050 Hierarchy of the entity within the group, c0070 Date of last update, c0080 Date of integration, c0090 Date of deletion).
- v8826_m - checks the LEI format of the same cell: v8862_m requires that c0060 is filled, v8826_m checks that a filled c0060 is a valid LEI.
Fix it in the RoI Builder - it points at the exact row and cell and re-checks as you type.
