v8861_m - Group hierarchy required when the row contains any other data (B_01.02)

Official expression (EBA, verbatim)
with {tB_01.02, default: null, interval: false}: if ( not ( isnull ({c0030}) ) ) or not (( isnull ({c0040}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0020}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0060}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0070}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0080}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0090}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0100}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0110}) )) then ( ( not ( isnull ({c0050}) ) )) endif
Precondition (verbatim): {v_B_01.02} - the rule is evaluated only when template B_01.02 is part of the filing (its filing indicator is true).
Description in the EBA artifact: empty (NULL).
What this rule checks
Template B_01.02 (List of entities within the scope of the register of information) has one row per entity within the scope of the Register of Information (RoI). The row key is c0010 (LEI of the entity).
The rule looks at each row: if at least one of the data columns c0020-c0040 and c0060-c0110 is filled - Name of the entity (c0020), Country (c0030), Type of entity (c0040), LEI of the direct parent undertaking (c0060), Date of last update (c0070), Date of integration (c0080), Date of deletion (c0090), Currency (c0100), Value of total assets (c0110) - then c0050 (Hierarchy of the entity within the group (where applicable)) must be filled as well. A row that contains only the key c0010 does not trigger the rule.
The column label ends with '(where applicable)', but the published expression makes c0050 required in every row that contains any other data - the check runs exactly as published. For an entity that does not belong to any group, the value list of this column contains the code eba_RP:x21 (Entities other than entities of the group).
This is a warning-level check (layer W2, severity: warning). It does not technically block or reject a filing at the ESAs - a technical rejection can only be caused by the structural file checks (STRUCT layer). A violation shows up as a warning in the validation feedback. The rule is active on the current EBA validation rules list (status as of 2026-06-23).
Most common causes
- The entity does not belong to any group, so the cell was left empty - the value list has eba_RP:x21 (Entities other than entities of the group) for exactly this case.
- The row was filled in starting from the name or the entity type and the hierarchy cell was left empty.
- A column shift in a CSV or Excel export left c0050 empty and moved values into neighbouring columns.
How to fix it, step by step
- Open template B_01.02 and find the flagged row. The finding gives the row number and the key value: c0010 (LEI of the entity).
- Pick the hierarchy code from the B_01.02 value list in column c0050 - for example eba_RP:x56 (Subsidiary).
- If the entity does not belong to any group, pick eba_RP:x21 (Entities other than entities of the group) - the list covers this case.
- If the whole row is there by mistake, delete the entire row instead. A row with only the key (c0010) does not trigger this rule.
- Run the validation again and confirm the v8861_m warning for that row is gone.
Example: fails vs passes
Fails - the entity type is filled, the hierarchy is empty; the finding points at column c0050 of this row:
| c0010 (LEI of the entity) | c0040 (Type of entity) | c0050 (Hierarchy of the entity within the group (where applicable)) |
|---|---|---|
| 549300Q5EH2NP82EPE32 | eba_CT:x12 | (empty) |
Passes - the hierarchy is filled (here with the out-of-group code):
| c0010 (LEI of the entity) | c0040 (Type of entity) | c0050 (Hierarchy of the entity within the group (where applicable)) |
|---|---|---|
| 549300Q5EH2NP82EPE32 | eba_CT:x12 | eba_RP:x21 |
Also passes (edge case) - a key-only row: only c0010 is filled, none of c0020-c0040 and c0060-c0110 has a value, so the condition never activates. With several rows, only the incomplete row is flagged - the finding carries its row number and key value.
Related rules
- v8858_m, v8859_m, v8860_m, v8862_m, v8863_m, v8864_m, v8865_m - the same row-completeness family on B_01.02: each rule requires a different column of the same row (c0020 Name of the entity, c0030 Country of the entity, c0040 Type of entity, c0060 LEI of the direct parent undertaking, c0070 Date of last update, c0080 Date of integration, c0090 Date of deletion).
- v8804_m and v8803_m - the two data columns this family never requires directly (c0110 Value of total assets, c0100 Currency) are covered by conditional rules: v8804_m requires c0110 for entities other than the two non-financial types, and v8803_m requires c0100 whenever c0110 is filled.
Fix it in the RoI Builder - it points at the exact row and cell and re-checks as you type.
