Precondition (verbatim): {v_B_02.01} - the rule is evaluated only when template B_02.01 is part of the filing (its filing indicator is true).

What this rule checks

Template B_02.01 (Contractual arrangements - General Information) has one row per contractual arrangement. The row key is c0010 (Contractual arrangement reference number).

The rule looks at each row: if at least one of the data columns c0020, c0030 or c0050 is filled - Type of contractual arrangement (c0020), Overarching contractual arrangement reference number (c0030), Annual expense or estimated cost for the past year (c0050) - then c0040 (Currency of the amount reported in RT.02.01.0050) must be filled as well. A row that contains only the key c0010 does not trigger the rule.

The label of c0040 ties it to the amount in c0050, but the published expression requires c0040 also when c0050 is empty, as long as c0020 or c0030 is filled - the check runs exactly as published. c0040 takes one code from the LISTCURRENCY dictionary (166 currency codes in the eba-4.0-errata5 taxonomy, for example eba_CU:EUR for euro). This rule checks only that the cell is filled; whether the value is a valid dictionary code is a separate, format-level check.

This is a warning-level check (layer W2, severity: warning). It does not technically block or reject a filing at the ESAs - a technical rejection can only be caused by the structural file checks (STRUCT layer). A violation shows up as a warning in the validation feedback. The rule is active on the current EBA validation rules list (status as of 2026-06-23).

Most common causes

• An amount was entered in c0050 and the currency cell was left empty.
• The row was filled in starting from the type of arrangement (c0020) or the overarching reference (c0030) - the published expression requires c0040 then too, even with no amount in c0050.
• A column shift in a CSV or Excel export left c0040 empty and moved values into neighbouring columns.

How to fix it, step by step

1. Open template B_02.01 and find the flagged row. The finding gives the row number and the key value: c0010 (Contractual arrangement reference number).
2. Pick the currency of the amount reported in c0050 from the LISTCURRENCY dictionary and enter its code in column c0040, for example eba_CU:EUR for euro.
3. If the whole row is there by mistake, delete the entire row instead. A row with only the key (c0010) does not trigger this rule.
4. Run the validation again and confirm the v8867_m warning for that row is gone.

Also passes (edge case) - a key-only row: only c0010 is filled, none of c0020, c0030, c0050 has a value, so the condition never activates. With several rows, only the incomplete row is flagged - the finding carries its row number and key value.
